Tamela is the TANF/TEP Program Manager at the Washington Literacy Center. Tamela's primary role is to run the day-to-day operations for the Education and Occupational Training (EOT) program in conjunction with the client Department of Human Services (DHS), as a Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) vendor.

Before joining Washington Literacy Center, she gained professional experience for five years at Grant Associates as a Career Advisor.
She has worked in the workforce development industry for approximately 17+ years, holding a wide range of positions, from an Outreach Specialist to Executive Assistant to CEO/President at United Way and OIC/DC. She has served as a Case Coach at several different TEP providers working closely with government agencies, including DYRS, DOES, CSOSA and DHS.
In her spare time, Tamela owns a hair and make-up business, is an avid traveler, a member of her church's workforce development ministry, takes care of her two children, and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
