Save the Date! Join us on October 28, 2023 for our Books & Boos Halloween Costume Gala benefiting adult literacy, workforce development, and other WLC programs. This FUNraiser helps us achieve our mission to “raise the literacy level of adults in Washington, DC so that they may function on the job, in the family and society."

The Washington Literacy Center is proud of our long history of addressing learning barriers, such as dyslexia, and helping adults and their families thrive and become independent. While reading is at the core of everything we teach, our classes now include math, digital, financial, and health literacy, and workforce training - all designed to help our learners succeed.

People are counting on us as never before. The Washington Literacy Center, along with our supporters, will continue to change lives. Thank you for your support.

Your commitment as a sponsor changes the lives of the adult learners we serve. We have been providing services to adults in the DC metro area for over 60 years, and we are continually looking for ways to reach and help even more people in need. For information on sponsorship levels or to customize a sponsorship experience at any level, contact Jimmie Williams or Annette Larkin at

The Books & Boos Halloween Costume Gala on October 28, 2023 will be held at Planet Word Museum, 925 13th St NW, Washington, DC 20005. Join us for a "spook"-taculer evening to support the Washington Literacy Center. Come dressed as your favorite literary character and enjoy an amazing evening as we eat, drink, and be scary all for a good cause.

We hope that you join us for a spooky chic evening as we eat, drink, and be "scary" in benefit of the Washington Literacy Center.
